Hadley’s life changed forever at just 8 years old.
PALS SkyHope helped her defy the odds.

When Hadley was experiencing frequent headaches at a young age, the diagnosis of brain cancer was needless to say, a life changing event.

At just 8 years old, Hadley was diagnosed with brain cancer. As difficult as that sounds, her parents  Tim and Holly soon realized that getting Hadley to the doctor for treatment was also extremely challenging.

Like many people dealing with medical needs far from home, Hadley’s parents began with commercial flights from northern Maine to Boston. It was not only a difficult journey because of the normal issues with commercial travel, but a costly one as airline tickets, hotels, meals, etc. quickly became unsustainable.

We live in a very rural town here in Northern Maine and they don’t have services for children with cancer, it’s not here. Without these treatments, you will die. So she ended up having to fly to Boston all the time.

–Holly, Hadley's Mom

As soon as Hadley’s mom reached out to SkyHope (formerly known as PALS), our team made all the arrangements to get Hadley on one private flight and as many as she needed to treat her. As of 2021, Hadley has flown 138 times with PALS SkyHope from Presque Isle, ME to Dana Farber.

Long-time volunteer pilot Jim Platz is featured in the video and discusses what an amazing gift SkyHope has been for him, as well as what it means for his passengers like Hadley.

When you need help and you’re this far away, it’s scary. Transportation at that time was the biggest thing and in the beginning, it was weekly trips. We were having a hard time.

– Tim, Hadley's Dad

Please donate today, become a part of our growing community and help life saving missions like this continue.

The money would just keep adding up and one day we were gonna be broke. We didn’t have any more money to fly, so my Dad reached out to PALS and they’ve been there all along.

How is my donation used?

PALS SkyHope is a nonprofit that arranges free flights for medical patients requiring medical diagnosis, treatment or follow-up who cannot afford or are unable to fly commercially.

Although the pilots and the use of their plane are on a volunteer basis, mission coordination, patient outreach and other related costs are not. Your donation helps continue our mission and connect patients with the free medical flights they need to obtain critical care.

PALS SkyHope also arranges volunteer flights for family members of patients as compassionate missions, to ensure patients have support when they are away from home for long periods. PALS is proud to assist military personnel and their families with free flights to aid in the recovery and rehabilitation processes for our wounded veterans.
