Charlotte Childers was just a young girl when she was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome and severe scoliosis in 2013. These conditions required specialized treatments that weren’t available in her hometown.
Frequent trips to Shriners Hospital in Florida and University of Florida-Shands became essential for her care, but the costs of commercial flights, accommodations, and meals quickly became overwhelming for her family.
That’s when the family reached out to SkyHope. Our organization arranged free private flights, allowing Charlotte to focus on her health rather than the burden of travel. Since 2013, Charlotte has flown with us 74 times, making the journey from her home to expert care in Florida.
SkyHope is a nonprofit that arranges free flights for medical patients requiring medical diagnosis, treatment or follow-up who cannot afford or are unable to fly commercially.
Although the pilots and the use of their plane are on a volunteer basis, mission coordination, patient outreach and other related costs are not. Your donation helps continue our mission and connect patients with the free medical flights they need to obtain critical care.
SkyHope also arranges volunteer flights for family members of patients as compassionate missions, to ensure patients have support when they are away from home for long periods. SkyHope is proud to assist military personnel and their families with free flights to aid in the recovery and rehabilitation processes for our wounded veterans.
