PALS SkyHope Receives Grant from Alexion Charitable Foundation to Support Free Flights for Rare Disease Patients
Farmingdale, NY – January 2, 2025 — PALS SkyHope is proud to announce the receipt of a grant from the Alexion Charitable Foundation, furthering its mission of providing free air transportation to individuals with rare diseases. This grant will enable PALS SkyHope to support 355 flights for patients who must travel great distances to consult specialists, attend conferences to learn about their conditions, or join support groups. Since partnering with the Alexion Charitable Foundation in 2021, PALS SkyHope has worked tirelessly to expand its outreach and services, offering hope and tangible assistance to patients in need. This funding will also play a pivotal role in patient and pilot recruitment, allowing the organization to connect with individuals in rural areas where access to specialized care is often limited.“This grant is a game-changer for PALS SkyHope and the patients we serve,” said Donna Collins, Executive Director of PALS SkyHope. “Alexion Charitable Foundation’s unwavering support since 2021 has been instrumental in advancing our mission. With this funding, we can provide even more flights, recruit more pilots, and reach patients in the most underserved areas, bringing them the hope that help is here when they need it most. We are deeply grateful for Alexion’s continued partnership and belief in our mission.”
