September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and not only does PALS SkyHope celebrate the advances in treatment and access to care and remember those we’ve lost, PALS also takes this time to reflect on its mission and raise awareness of its services to those affected by childhood cancer.
In America, 45 children are diagnosed with cancer daily
Cancer is the number one cause of death by disease among children. - American Cancer Society
Cancer is devastating no matter whom it strikes, but it’s particularly distressing when it affects the younger population. When they should be in school or playing outside, children with cancer are often stuck in a hospital fighting the hardest battle instead. PALS SkyHope understands that a cancer diagnosis takes a tremendous toll on family and friends. Caregivers are often left feeling helpless, learning how to navigate medical information, make sense of treatment options, and figure out how to deal with sky high medical bills all while trying to remain hopeful and being present for their loved ones.
During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, PALS SkyHope honors the strength and courage of the thousands of children who fight cancer every day and all of those who support them.
For the past 13 years, PALS SkyHope has been dedicated to relieving transportation as barriers to medical care. This year PALS has created its Open Skies Campaign to fund 5 different PALS Programs, the campaign objectives will help:
- Ensure Long-Term Financial Security: By securing PALS SkyHope financially over the long term, we ensure its sustained impact for years to come.
- Swiftly Address Patient Needs: Your support will provide the financial flexibility needed to address immediate patient needs swiftly and effectively.
- Produce Passion-Driven Giving: We want to empower you, our valued donors, to contribute to the areas of the cause that resonate most with your passions.
One of the funds of the Open Skies Campaign is designated for Children. By eliminating geographic and economic barriers, PALS SkyHope offers families access to renowned children’s medical facilities throughout the country, including hospitals such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Center in New York or Shriners Hospital for Children in South Carolina.
Since its inception, PALS SkyHope has provided more than 5,000 flights for children.
With your unwavering support, PALS SkyHope is charting a course towards a brighter future, one filled with hope, compassion, and lifesaving journeys. Your generosity fuels our mission to provide crucial medical transportation for children in need.
